A custom tote bag made for a college graduate who is moving away.
My daughter is home for a few weeks before she heads off to her summer job and med school. I walked past her room, looking at her bookshelves, and thought they would never be the same since she will be taking some of her books with her. I wanted to preserve this moment in time, so I took a photo of her bookshelf and printed it on fabric at Spoonflower.
I love the quote on the opposite side.
I made a basic tote and used a word fabric for the lining.
Yes, her walls really are lime green! That was what she wanted at thirteen!
I included these “Everything I Need to Know” Little Golden Books. My daughter was – and is – a voracious reader and had quite a few Golden Books as a child. (I admit I loved them when I was younger and some of the images brought back fond memories.)
Knowing that my daughter wants to take some of the books with her made me a bit sentimental. We have surrounded ourselves with bookshelves brimming with books. The kids’ books have been boxed away to save for my grandkids. This gift of a custom tote is a way of taking a little bit of all those moments of her childhood, shared reading together or lost in books, with her as she embarks on a new journey (and books that won’t be very fun to read!)
