I wish I could take better photos of these memory pillowcases I made for Melissa. However, they require a 24″ pillow form and I don’t have one. Once filled, I think they will look wonderful! They are made from a mountain of clothes sent to me. The clothes belonged to her mom, who passed away a few years ago. Melisssa is giving these to her daughters as a gift. I used almost all the articles of clothing. Many are just simple strips. I designed the layout so that I could make all three pillows alike – except for the bottom right corner. Each has a different motif.
On the back is a fleece square cut up from a robe and a cute penguin fabric from old pjs. I think these will be a treasure!
The beauty of being a custom sewing studio is that I get to work with individuals. I attempt to bring to life what they envision. Sometimes, I guide them.
When you turn to the internet for custom items, sometimes you have to order large quantities. I recently had requests to make some seat cushions. The first asked for embroidery. I don’t have embroidery capability in my studio yet. I wish I did because I get a lot of requests for it. I don’t really have the room, but I think I’ll investigate.
Typically I use duck cloth for these cushions. Another customer asked if I would make it out of 1000 Denier nylon fabric. Yep, I can do that!
And then there’s this blanket for Anne. She thought she had so many that I might have to make a pillow case, too. Well, I used every T Shirt she sent me and had just a few small blanks to fill in!
See the ice rink? Believe it or not, it is not frozen yet and we have had days of temps in the 20s! The problem is that the warmth in the ground. However, I expect we will be skating soon. It’s been a while since we have skated in December.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by my little sewing corner!
