I recently completed two large memory blankets for a customer. She requested a traditional quilt, so I made it with cotton batting, flannel backing, and binding (which I have now mastered application by machine and no pins!) I quilted in the ditch. Handling the weight of these quilts is a challenge. The clothes can be quite thick with pieces of denim, sweaters, and other items that are stitched onto the blocks. It takes quite a bit of pressure to move these through the machine and, consequently, some strain on my shoulder. The end result is lovely, however!
