I love books. I love to read them, to hold them, to walk among stacks of them. I am surrounded by them! Our living room shelves are quite wide and not quote sturdy. Between that and our big tv, the books are relegated to the corners. Since this room has some nautical accents, there sit some books related to the sea…..”Gifts from the Sea”, “The Bounty”, “Endurance” (one of my favorite stories of survival), “Columbus”, “The History of Ships”….
I have yet to read “Flatland” but it’s on my “list”. “Free Range Knitter” was a gift from one of my knitting friends.
Are you drawn to bookstores and libraries? Maggie went to the $5 per bag book sale at the library last week and got me this book, appropriately titles “Cold.” She knows I’m a bit obsessed with Shackleton…. For Christmas, we exchanged stacks of books. She gave me many biographies…..
I gave her a stack of classics….classic books, classic authors….They are now scattered about her bookshelves, but I found a few…(can you tell I just finished a biography about Tolstoy???)
For my birthday, Maggie found “The Complete Scripts” to Downton Abbey (season 1). I can’t wait to read all of Maggie Smith’s lines – and it includes lines that were later edited out. It’s a nice addition to the “World of Downton Abbey” book that she gave me last year.
On the bedside is this intriguing story…..
Maggie picked up a few more classics at the book sale.
Even on my Nook…..I am drawn to classics…..this has been on my “to read” list for a while.
Are you a book lover? Do you collect any type of books? What kinds of books do you like to read? Do you have an electronic reader? Do you love to wander through the aisles of bookstores and libraries?
We are big book lovers too. Sometimes I think the house will collapse under the weight of it all. I’m big on beading, paper crafting, knitting, cook books and I read novels (mostly) for pleasure. Rick has a thing for true life adventure books, with some philosophy thrown in for good measure!
Are you on Goodreads.com? I love it, and it helps keep my “To Read” list fully stocked!
LOVE books although I try to utilize the library as much as I can vs the bookstore…but I often can’t resist. My husband laughs at me because when I need to get out of the house on my own I typically head to the bookstore – I only wish it wasn’t a chain. My library stacks are always much too ambitious even though I am an avid reader. I just finished 2 books I loved…Code Name Verity (young adult but excellent – YA has come a long way) . And The Homecoming of Samuel Lake. I love most genres but seem to enjoy historical fiction lately. LOVE Goodreads…
Wow what a stack!! I LOVE books…I will be one of those old people that will have little pathways between all the books that are stacked in my house. 🙂 I prefer books even though I could put them on the ipad. BTW, a tree grows in brooklyn is one of my all time favorites and I just finished reading it for the third time last week. 🙂
