I saw this fabric and thought it would make a nice oversized tote. These totes are big and practical. You probably wouldn’t want to carry it while walking around NYC, but it makes a great bag to throw your gear in and head out to the park!
The fabric makes it one that the guys won’t be embarrassed to carry. I used a belt for the handle to add a little unique style.
I have my oversized beach blanket, a 25-block T Shirt blanket and my camera bag in here.
I’ve listed this oversized tote in my Etsy shop.
A few other shop updates:
I have on coffee sack yoga bag:
I’ve added these typewriter coin purses – I thought they would make a nice gift. (I made them for my son’s teachers last year.)
I have closed T Shirt Blanket orders for 2013. Order early for 2014 because Annie is graduating and I suspect I will have a lot of local orders. On top of that, my son is graduating from college, so it will be a busy May!
This weekend is Annie’s homecoming. She did not make her dress. But she found a cute Jessica McClintock dress at a shop going out of business. We couldn’t beat the $24 price tag! They didn’t have her size so we cut it down. That and altering some of the other girls’ dresses has kept me busy.
In addition to blankets, I have been selling quilt kits. I can’t wait to see the finished blanket made using these fun math fabrics! My customer is making it for a bar mitzvah for a young man involved in math club.
This interconnected world in which we live in is sometimes so small. The customer who purchased this kit lives close to me. I asked how she heard about me because I recently sponsored a local 5K. It turns out she read about me on Andrea Dekker. Andrea’s website is all about simple, organized living and a while back I made a T Shirt blanket for her.
I’m on a T Shirt recycle roll. We had a housewarming party and I whipped up a wine tote out of T Shirts. I will share a tutorial for how to make one. Speaking of wine totes, I have to make some out of coffee sacks this weekend to donate to the annual wine event we attend.
So my sewing has been interesting! We’ve had a beautiful stretch of weather and I’m bracing for the change. I’d love to get in a sail or two before the lake temperatures drop too low, but not sure if we can pull it off with our weekends being full. Either way, we have to get it off the beach.
I’m slowly getting back to my knitting. I have neglected knitting as it seems like I’m sewing until late in the evening. Now that the kids are back in school I’m trying to focus on having a “regular” work day and give myself time to enjoy my evenings and weekends.
I hope you are enjoying the weather, football, and some sewing or knitting!
