Leave it to me to be behind the trends…..but some trends are simply classics. Take this striped scarf made famous by Brooklyntweed.  It’s the Noro Striped Scarf on Ravelry that has been knitted over 13,000 times. It’s not an earth-shattering pattern, just a fun project in which you select two different skeins of painted yarns and then get surprised at the interesting color combinations that arise.

I intended to knit this for my son, but realized the colors were a bit more feminine than I would have liked. Perhaps I should have used one skein of color with a black skein – those are really jazzed up. (See an example here.)

Now that the Ravelry world has moved on to all kinds of cute little shawls, I finally finished a project that was popular back in 2007.

But this is a simple, satisfying knitting project. Easy to knit on the go. Knitting has taken a back seat to my sewing and I’m trying to reconfigure my work day so that I’m not sewing day and night. I want to find the right balance between work and family time and having time to sit and knit. I’m happy to say I’m almost done with my son’s wool socks, now that skiing season is almost over!
