Thank you for your birthday wishes! Yes, I am sooooo spoiled. Did you see the lovely presents I received? Just like when I was a little girl! I’d say, “I’m not spoiled, I’m happy!” Well, I am very, very, happy!

I had a party for my husband for his 50th, so he wanted to have one for me. He did not want to attempt a surprise, so I knew about it. But he did all the work – the planning, the invitations, the decorations.

Our Parma friends brought over two cakes! Yep, that’s me  and my high school graduation photo. No neck wrinkles!

This cake is perfect for a seamstress. And it was a cassada cake!

Our sweet little neighbor with his mom! We take as many hugs and kisses as we can get. When he comes over, he gets a full dose of music.

Me and my mom. (Plenty of neck wrinkles now….)

I even got a balloon drop! Can you tell my husband was on the prom committee back in his day? We actually pulled the crepe paper and turned on the fan later in the evening and even the adults were mesmerized!

It was fun to enjoy some time with family and friends. We had about 32 people, which is about the maximum our house can handle for an indoor party.

On turning 50….where do I start?  I like it, for the most part (except the neck wrinkles….). I like the confidence and wisdom that comes with age. I’m content with who I am. I am active. (The body is still lumpy….but I’m also not at the gym 5 days a week trying to take care of that.) I have a wonderful husband and family. We’ve had a tough year. But I’ve got stoic Irish roots to help me cope. I’ve also got great friends and family. As you can see, my family is always having parties. I have friends to meet up with, knit with, shop with. (OK, just threw that it to keep you on your toes.) I don’t really like shopping…. I have a super network of online friends (we’ll talk about catfishing another day.) I am building a business out of a hobby that I enjoy.

In other words, I am blessed. And for that, I am grateful.

I’m not particularly poetic today. But stop by my friend Louise’s blog Lines of Beauty. If you are old like me, you will love it!
