My neighbor’s sister was over a week ago and asked about the possibility of me making her daughter’s First Communion dress. I pulled out the dress I made for my daughters. (It’s simply hanging in my closet.) Since my oldest is turning 19, this dress is about 11 years old.
I wanted a classic dress. Cotton batiste. Smocking with pearls. Entredeaux, lace.
Collars. Sleeves. I think this dress was the only one with a collar! And very few had sleeves!
I think I had a small ribbon laced through the eyelets.
Simple lace trim at the hem.
Wide ribbon tie.
An heirloom I hope will be passed along.
wow! I crocheted a baptismal gown once….that’s beautiful!
Lovely!
OMGosh! How beautiful – and the detail!!! I also saved little dresses I made for Jessie when she was a toddler – but they weren’t nearly that gorgeous.
That is gorgeous Jane. You can’t find things like that at all anymore!
Did you follow a pattern at all? I am looking for a vintage style pattern and am having a hard time.
