I loved the Occupy Your Sewing Room movement started over at Cat Patches! This has been a busy week for me so it was a good mindset for me to think of myself as “occupying” my sewing room!
I completed the above memory pillow. This a simple and fun project and makes a lovely gift. This one is a gift for a daughter whose father died.
I completed several custom sweatshirt totes. This one we started with an inexpensive, plain sweatshirt and used iron-on letters. The photos are a blur because these were heading out the door as fast as I was sewing them.
I am beginning another memory pillow this evening which is beginning with a varsity jacket. The jacket belonged to a man my age who lost a battle with cancer. His sister asked me to make it – and I learned that he passed away today. She knew it was imminent but wants it to be a memory for his family.
I also completed two T shirt quilts – but I can’t share those, either, until they have been given as gifts!
So….my sewing room occupation has been successful, but there’s more to do!
Wonderful, Jane! You were very productive!
Very nice ideas! I love the shirt pillow. How nice to be able to have something tangible to hug and hold onto.
Don’t you just love a sucessful occupation! 🙂 🙂 Fun projects, that will be truly loved by their receipients, I’m sure!
Just lovely! The memorial pillows are perfect! May be a better idea then wearing the article of clothing from the departed loved one (like I do), it should last longer that way.
Oh, I so wanna be a part of this “Occupy Your Sewing Room” Challenge to. But am already doing Radvent for December and the small fact that I haven’t set up my sewing/craft/art room yet (since we moved) is a tiny issue! Ha ha ha! Oh well, will just have to live vicariously through you in this one! :oD You’re doing a great job by the way!
The title of your post scared me a little :o) What a fun idea to occupy your sewing room! Love your memory pillows, they are so special. I want to occupy my knitting corner.
I love the idea of a memory pillow, I’ve done quilts and wall hangings but no pillows. Thanks for sharing.
I love your memory pillow, I’ve done quilts and wall hangings but a pillow made from a shirt would be really nice to hug. Thanks for sharing.
Using the shirt for the cushion is a great idea.
Happy days.Bev.xoxo
