I have two Baby Clothes Memory Blankets to share today, each celebrating the life of a precious baby. The first was commissioned by a woman whose cousin lost her baby at four months old due to SIDS. It’s heartbreaking to think about. The burp cloth was used by her other children, so we decided to make it the central focus of the blanket. Rather than cut it, I left it large and added some scraps to the sides to fit the space.
A blue minky dot fabric backing.
The second blanket celebrates the passage from baby to little boy. For this blanket, mom and I had a lot of discussions about which items to include, colors, etc.
There was a piece of hand embroidery on a receiving blanket. We added his name and birth date with machine embroidery.
There was a lot of special sewing added to the blanket, including this baseball cap.
A few extra clothing items were sent along with this batch of clothes, so I suggested that I make a pillow case using the extras.
I used four items for the front and a combination of two receiving blankets for the back.
I’ve add the Memory Pillow to my shop. Learn more about the baby memory blankets here.
