Sewing inspiration abounds! Of course, it comes at the busiest time of year! I am “sew” inspired to make all my gifts and then reality sets in. I have a few items I would like to sew for special people in my life, but I’m not even sure I can make that happen. But I thought I’d share some of the lovely things that are cluttering my mind with “I should-s” and “I want to-s” and “ooh, that’s so cute-s”…..
You can’t forget the guys! I love this vest!
How about this silver dress? I purchased the pattern from Burdastyle. There is a jacket pattern – it’s a somewhat backwards jacket. I love that so I can cover my arms! I was hoping I might have a holiday party to attend. Maybe I’ll make New Year’s Eve plans, just so I can wear it! (Of course, I have to sew it first!) My son is playing a gig down in Columbus on NYE…..maybe I can convince my husband to go!
Here’s the fabric I bought:
I am in need of some blouses. I think this might look good on me – something a bit longer. All of my blouses are tailored and a bit boring, so this would add a bit of feminity, I think.
If you haven’t stopped by Craftsy, you should! There are some wonderful classes – many are free! I purchased The Couture Dress but I am in the middle of the Pant Fitting Techniques Class! I’m really excited about the pants. They are designed by Sandra Betzina for Vogue. I love the center seam. It is a wonderful design element that also aids in the fitting process.
Because I don’t have enough sewing ideas swimming around in my head I picked up two books. The first, “reinvention” is incredible. It is filled with projects from upcycled fabrics – many of which I have used myself. I especially love the coffee sack bins!
This book, “A bag for all reasons” is a treasure trove of information! The author, Lisa Lam, has an amazing website, U-handbag, where you will find fantastic information and tips on making bags. There is a pattern for a convertible backpack that is really calling to me!
Well, that’s all for now! I have to get back to “work” sewing! What sewing are you doing these days?
