This is the year of the quilt! I started making T Shirt Quilts years ago as high school graduation presents. I modified them until I came up with the best possible combination of construction and functionality. I have a listing for a custom quilt on my Etsy shop. I also have written a pattern if you would like to try making one. And if you want to simply get your feet wet, try making a T Shirt pillow using my tutorial.
I recently added a 9-Square “Daddy” quilt to my Esty shop. This is my great-niece. Isn’t she the sweetest? She is wearing the sweater I knit and playing on the quilt which was constructed with her dad’s (and a few of mom’s) T Shirts. I love that the quilt has a special connection to Dad. After all, most dads can spare a few T shirts!
I think a Daddy Baby Quilt would make a unique gift for a new baby. Stay tuned for some other Baby Quilt ideas I have brewing.
I have been busy making quilts non-stop this January. I have received mainly word-of-mouth business, which I take to be a compliment!
So I hope not to bore you too much with my quilts, but will share them every once in a while!
i love the daddy t-shirt idea! very sweet.
i am working on another one, but yours come out so much neater than mine! I can never seem to get it all to fit together so cleanly. ah well, practice!
I love the idea of taking all of those memories and putting them in one place! I feel like it’s a very old fashioned idea- to take scraps that remind you of times past, and making them functional. Lovely!
So beautiful! I am lucky a dear friend is a quilter, and when my mother died unexpectedly, she gathered up Mom’s favorite t-shirts and some dresses for the background fabrics and gave me a wonderful quilt that I love to this day. She did another for my husband and used some of the “pocket” designs for squares between…so clever and such good memories with each. Thanks for sharing!
I love your quilts, and the Daddy Quilts are a great idea. Such a special gift and keepsake.
