Setting Sail
Emily Dickinson

Exultation is the going
Of an inland soul to sea, —
Past the houses, past the headlands,
Into deep eternity!

Bred as we, among the mountains,

Can the sailor understand

The divine intoxication

Of the first league out from land?

Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets. There are times in life when I “listen” to the music of poetry.

Last weekend, a few of us were able to enjoy the beauty of this endless summer under this pretty sail!

My brother’s, new-to-him, boat is actually a 30-year-old Hobie Cat with original sails.

With my son’s adventures in sailing the past two summers and a somewhat sailing love story , I couldn’t wait to get back out on a sailboat myself!

After 20+ years, we were a bit rusty.  There was a learning curve to the Hobie as well.

But once we were out on the water, time was gone.

Good thing I had my life jacket on so that the French and Irish Press wouldn’t find anything too revealing!

It was a gorgeous day and we were out on the water for at least four hours!

I’m hoping we can be spoiled with another warm, weekend day…..
